                    UF Sorority Philanthropy Information

                    Alpha Chi Omega
                    Every year, Alpha Chi Omega serve Peaceful Paths, a Gainesville shelter where women and children can seek protection from abuse. The sisters of AXO raise money through their annual philanthropy, "The Great Escape," which is an ultimate frisbee tournament. They also donate items to the shelter when they are in need.

                    Alpha Delta Pi

                    The sisters of ADPI support the Ronald Mcdonald House every year. In the fall semester, they organize a charity basketball tournament called "Lion Share Challenge:  King of the Court." Just this last year, ADPI raised $11,000! The sisters also visit the local Ronald McDonald House regularly to help prepare meals, help with gardening projects, and baby-sit for the families staying there.

                    Alpha Epsilon Phi

                    Each fall, the members of AEPHI host "Afterdark," the biggest party on sorority row and each spring, they organize "Phi Hoops," a 3 vs. 3 basketball tournament. These two events help raise money for the Elizabeth Glazier Pediatric AIDS Foundations and Sharsheret.

                    Alpha Omicron Pi

                    Now going into it's 17th year, AOPI's "MR. UF" is on every guy's wish-list to win. Last year, Alpha Omicron Pi raised $13,000 for the National Arthritis Foundation and Cystic Fibrosis. "Mr. UF" is a pageant for men that consists of 3 rounds: Casual wear, talent and question round.  Those fraternities that raise the most money have the opportunity to move from casual round and show off their talent in the next round.

                    Chi Omega

                    The Make-A-Wish Foundation recognizes Chi Omega as one of their Cause Champion sponsors. The sisters of Chi Omega host a sand volleyball tournament, "Sandblast," each spring in order to raise money for the organization. The money that is raised for Make-A-Wish allows children with life-threatening medical conditions to fulfill their last wishes.

                    Delta Delta Delta

                    Tri Delt nationally supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a facility for children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses who are not covered by insurance. In doing their part to help St. Jude, the sisters of Tri Delt host a softball tournament each year called "Triple Play." This past year, Delta Delta Delta raised over $30,000 for St. Jude!

                    Delta Gamma

                    DG's annual philanthropy, "Anchor Splash," raises money to support Service for Sight, an organization that strives to educate and bring awareness to others about visual disabilities and impairments. "Anchor Splash" includes an Anchorman pageant and swimming contests. They recently raised more than $16,000 for Service for Sight. The upcoming "Anchor Splash" will take place on September 23rd with the "Anchor Man" Pageant and September 25th with "Pool Day" at the O'connel Center pool.

                    Delta Phi Epsilon

                    Every spring, Delta Phi Epsilon hosts "Deepher Dude," an event where students compete in field-style relay races. All of the proceeds from "Deepher Dude" go towards the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This organization helps children and adults whom have been negatively affected by Cystic Fibrosis.

                    Delta Zeta

                    Each fall, Delta Zeta holds the "Clay Classic Philanthropy," a skeet shoot competition benefiting the Painted Turtle. The Painted Turtle is an innovative medical specialty camp and family care center for children who have chronic and life-threatening illnesses. This year's event will be held on October 22nd.

                    Kappa Alpha Theta

                    The sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta support the National CASA Foundation, an organization that assists abused and neglected children in the juvenile court systems across the United States. Theta raises money for CASA through what they call the "Ultimate Dodgeball Tournament."

                    Kappa Delta

                    This sorority not only supports one charity, it supports four! Those organizations are Prevent Child Abuse America, The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Research Awards, Girl Scouts of the USA, and the Children's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. The sisters of Kappa Delta raise money through two philanthropic events, "Golf Classic" in the fall and "Shamrock Paintball Tournament" in the spring.

                    Kappa Kappa Gamma

                    Every year, KKG hosts "Too Hot to Handle," a wing eating contest which benefits Reading is Fundamental. This charity is the largest children’s literacy nonprofit in the United States, whose goal is to have a literate America.

                    Phi Mu

                    This past year, Phi Mu raised $7,000 for the Children's Miracle Network through "Phi Mu Tailgate." This philanthropy is a competition that consists of three tailgate-style games: cornhole, ladderball, and horseshoes.

                    Pi Beta Phi

                    This year, Pi Phi at the University of Florida became the second highest fund raising chapter for all Pi Beta Phi chapters across the nation. The sisters of Pi Phi were able to raise over $22,000 for First Book and the Pi Beta Phi Foundation through their flag football tournament, "Down and Dirty."

                    Sigma Kappa

                    This coming fall, Sigma Kappa will hold the 2nd annual "Sigma Kappa's Kickin' It Soccer Tournament." This event raises money for the Sigma Kappa Foundation which supports Alzheimer's Disease research.

                    Zeta Tau Alpha

                    Just this past year, the sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha were able to raise $52,793 for breast cancer awareness and education! They were able to do this through "Zeta Line Dance," which is a dance competition between fraternities.
